X-RAY CRYSTALLOGRAPHY
Our laboratory also operates the X-ray Crystallography Facility, located in the O2 Building on the VU Amsterdam campus, providing expertise and infrastructure for both macromolecular and small-molecule crystallography.
Our instrumentation enables us to pursue a complete crystallographic workflow — from initial crystallization trials and optimization through to diffraction experiments at synchrotron facilities — as well as in-house diffraction and structure solution of small-molecule crystals. We are currently equipped with:
• Bruker Quest D8, featuring cryogenic capabilities and suitable for small-molecule crystals under ambient or cryogenic conditions.
• SPT Labtech Mosquito, enabling the reliable setup of nanoliter-scale sitting-drop vapor diffusion experiments for macromolecular crystallography.
• Smidgentec Gemfinder, which automatically images crystallization plates to facilitate monitoring of crystal formation.
Are you interested in using these technologies for your research or collaborating with us on structural characterisation?
Please get in touch to discuss how we can support your project.
